Main Characteristics

A evergreen shrub with a rounded, well-branched habit, originally from Australia (Myrtaceae family).

Stems and Leaves: Fine, narrow, gray-green foliage with young red shoots.

Distinctive Flowers: Bottlebrush-shaped inflorescences with long, bright fuchsia-pink stamens appearing from May–June and sometimes in autumn.

Height and width: It can reach about 1.5-2 m in height and 1.5-2 m in width in favorable conditions.

Hardy: Better hardiness than other classic varieties, it tolerates temperatures down to about -5°C (in mild climates and well-drained soil) and is also suitable for coastal exposure and windy conditions.

Soil and exposure: It prefers full sun or light partial shade, in well-drained, light, neutral or slightly acidic soil, even sandy. Even tolerant of arid locations once well established.

Uses: Excellent as a single ornamental plant, in a pot on a terrace or balcony, in sunny flowerbeds, for borders, or even as a free-standing hedge in a Mediterranean garden.
